报告摘要:

Recent development of nano silica material technologies offers great prospects for realising specialty silica optical fibres based on 3D manufacturing. This presentation will focus on key technical aspects and pathways, recent progresses and remaining challenges, as well as opportunities, in research and development of specialty, custom-design silica optical fibres based on 3D manufacturing technologies.


报告人简介:

Gang Ding Peng: received the B.Sc. degree in physics from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, in 1982, and the M.Sc degree in applied physics and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 1984 and 1987, respectively. From 1987 through 1988 he was a lecturer of the Jiao Tong University. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Optical Sciences Centre of the Australian National University, Canberra, from 1988-1991. He has been working with University of NSW in Sydney, Australia since 1991, was a Queen Elizabeth II Fellow from 1992-1996 and is currently a professor in the same university. He is a fellow and life member of both OSA and SPIE. His research interests include optical fibres and devices, optical waveguides and devices, optical fibre sensors and nonlinear optics.

Photonics Research in POCG @ UNSW: The Photonics and Optical Communications Group (POCG), in School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications, Faculty of Engineering, UNSW Sydney, has been active in research in the fields of optical fibres and photonics since 1970s. UNSW Sydney is an Australian public research university located in the suburb of Kensington in Sydney. Established in 1949, it is regarded as one of the country's leading universities and one of top 100 universities in the world.
